1. Cookies and Browser Storage
Watermark Remover AI uses cookies and browser storage to support sign-in, guest credit limits, and settings. Cookies are sent with relevant requests. Local storage stays in your browser until cleared; session storage normally lasts for the current tab session.
2. Cookies Used by Watermark Remover AI
- wmr-auth-token: Supports account authentication and expires after 7 days unless renewed or cleared.
- wmr.session-token: Supports the sign-in session and has a configured lifetime of 7 days; session activity may renew it.
- wmr_guest_id: Identifies a guest browser for free credit limits and lasts up to 365 days. The service also uses hashes derived from this identifier and an IP address to check monthly usage.
- Temporary sign-in cookies: The authentication service may set additional cookies for security checks and redirects during sign-in.
3. Local Storage and Session Storage
- watermark-remover:theme (local storage): Remembers your light, dark, or system theme preference until changed or cleared.
- watermark-remover:login-return-url (session storage): Saves the return destination for sign-in during the current tab session.
- Language: English, Chinese, and German pages are selected through the page URL and language menu.
4. Third-Party Services
Stripe handles the checkout flow linked from our pricing page and may use its own cookies for payment processing and fraud prevention. Google or GitHub may use cookies on their own services when you choose their sign-in option. Those providers explain their practices in their own policies. Sending a photo to a storage or AI provider does not by itself mean that provider sets cookies in your browser.
5. Analytics and Advertising
When enabled, Watermark Remover AI uses Plausible Analytics to measure page visits and referral sources without analytics cookies. We do not integrate advertising trackers. If our use of optional cookies changes, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by applicable law.
6. Managing Browser Storage
Use your browser settings to inspect, block, or clear cookies and site storage. Local storage and session storage may need to be cleared separately from cookies.
- Blocking authentication cookies may prevent sign-in or account features from working.
- Clearing theme storage resets your saved theme choice.
- Clearing a guest identifier does not guarantee additional free credits, because the service also checks usage on the server.
- Control cookies set on a payment or sign-in provider's own website through that provider and your browser settings.
7. Cookie Security
In production, Watermark Remover AI's authentication and guest identifier cookies use Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax settings. These settings limit access and help reduce some cross-site risks. Browser local storage is accessible to website scripts and is not protected by the HttpOnly cookie setting.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will update this page and its revision date when our use of cookies or browser storage changes.
